Where is salt found in nature? How is salt made?
Through small quantities in the soil and certain plants: livestock are given supplements and/or chew on bones. Table salt is made refining coarse salt created by evaporation ponds containing salt water. Iodine is usually added. If you have Google Earth or Maps, look for the salt farms around Salt Lake City, Utah. You can make your own salt by evaporating salt water, either by boiling or sun evaporation. A thin white crust will develop. If the water evaporates slowly visible crytals of salt (halite) will form.
