Where Is Portstewart?
Portstewart is spelt as one word. It is a town in the county of Londonderry in Northern Ireland. It is located in the district of Coleraine Borough in the county of Londonderry in the Northern Irish province of Ulster. According to the census figures of Aril 29, 2001, Portstewart has a population of 7, 803. Of these, 16.6 per cent were under 16 years of age and 22.7 per cent were over 60 years of age, 44.9 per cent were male and 55.1 per cent were female, 38.7 per cent were Roman Catholics and 57.5 per cent were Protestants and 3.4 per cent of people between the ages of 16 and 74 were unemployed. The Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) has classified Portstewart as a small town because according to its definition, a small town is one which has a population ranging between 4, 500 and 10, 000 people. It is known as Port na Binne Uaine or Port Stiobhaird in the local Irish language. It is a seaside resort.
