Where is Palisades Park?
The kicker was they asked us in about 20 different languages. Sometime all we could do is point and one year we even sold lemonade and map’s on how to get there. Made park money that easy that summer!!! It was a place where everyone went and enjoyed having fun. It didn’t take all your money to get there. Nothing ever hurt you there and when we went, our parents had a sense that we were safe and out of harms way. I played that 45rpm record of the theme to the Palisades Amusement Park over and over again, until my dad turned the record into a Frisbee. No worries… I won another the next day! I enjoyed my first day and was there on the last day when it closed. We were all sad and didn’t understand why such a fun place had to be closed. We signed petition after petition to try and keep it open but nothing worked. Then one day we heard not the sound of laughter and joy, but of bulldozers taking our park away. It was never the same after that summer. Things changed but we always used to sit
