Where is opium cultivated and distributed?
Some drug enforcement agencies have confiscated opium hothouses from homes and apartments of small-scale users or dealers in the U.S., but opium is still a “cash crop” in many areas of the world. Opium-poppy cultivation for pharmaceutical use is legal in at least 12 countries (Australia, China, the Czech Republic, France, Hungary, India, Japan, Slovakia, Spain, Macedonia, Turkey and the United Kingdom).
