This tribe was basically found in 1714 and at that time it was seen as a part of the French Louisiana. The population here is approximately 17,865. This place is very attractive at the time of the Christmas lighting festival. This festival generally takes place around the first Saturday in December. This place is also very well known in terms of motion pictures that have been filmed in Natchitoches. These films comprised of Steel Magnolias, starring Julia Roberts, Sally Field, Daryl Hannah, Shirley MacLaine, Dolly Parton, and Olympia Dukakis, and The Horse Soldiers, starring William Holden and John Wayne.
