Where is Manchester University in the tables?

0

Hello sweetheart, any university is affected (in general) by its size and the spending on research. Manchester uni was formed recently (on 2004) and was originally 2 separate schools. the Uni offers the widest range of courses in the UK, this negatively affects the research profile of the University overall as some courses are not potentially good fields of research (music courses for ex.),, the university will need to spend some money on them anyway! Keeping that on mind, Manchester itself smashed the golden triangle this year, previously dominated by cambridge, oxford, and imperial college for a long time. This is according to the RAE (research assessment) which set manchester as one of the research elites in the UK (and comes fourth in the table). The Times chose manchester as University of the year twice (in 2005,2006) and Shangahi world university ranking has Manchester in top 40 (worldwide), it was the biggest climber in 2008 rankings (2009 rankings are not out yet).
