WHERE IS MACEDONIA?
Macedonia is one of the biggest regions of Greece. It is situated in the north part of Greece and it borders 3 Balkan states. The ancient Macedonia was a Greek kingdom and it was roughly the same size as the modern region of Macedonia. From the Greek state of Macedonia Alexander started his epic campaign of spreading the Greek culture and the Greek civilization all over the known word. His campaign was so successful that for nearly 300 years Greek (Hellenistic) Kingdoms controlled Asia Minor, Middle East, Egypt and even the north part of India. There is also a state that emerged from Yugoslavia and it is officially recognized by UN as FYROM meaning Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
