Where Is Longford?
Longford is situated in Midlands of Ireland. It lies at the intersection of many major roads and cities in Ireland. In Irish language, it is pronounced as ‘Longfort’, which means ‘stronghold’ and is also referred to as, Longphort Fhearghail. On the N4 prime path, between Sligo and Dublin, Longford is considered as the second biggest town. To the west of this country town lies Lough Ree and River Shannon. One third of the country’s population is inhabited in this city, which are approximately around 13,000. Some of the major industries found here are sawmills, food production, manufacture of health diagnostics and steel working. The most important occupation out here is raising Beef Cattle. Some of the most attractive spots in Longford are the 18-hole golf course, magnificient museums at Trackway and Corlea. One of the largest and most attractive lakes is the Lough Ree.
