Where Is Leinster Rugby?
Leinster isn’t a town or city rugby team like Leicester or London Wasps. Leinster is a province that encompasses 12 counties in the east of Ireland. While Leinster rugby represents the region as a whole, the headquarters of the club is in Dublin. They play at the RDS in Ballsbridge, Dublin. Ballsbridge is suburb of Dublin city, about ten minutes drive from the city centre, on the southside of the city. The reason they play as a regional team is because, despite a large number of rugby teams in towns, schools and universities across the province, most of these clubs are amateur organisations. They are usually parochial and far too small to sustain professional competition at the level Leinster play at. So Leinster brings together the best players from around the province and offers them contracts to play at a professional level.
