Where is Kilpatrick going to stand trail for assault charges?
Mayor of Detroit, Michigan, Kwame Kilpatrick will stand trial for assault in Wayne County (the county Detroit is in). His arraignment will be Aug. 22. The controversial Detroit mayor has been accused of shoving investigators and then making racial remarks when the investigators were trying to deliver a subpoena to a Kilpatrick friend last month in the mayor’s perjury case (he has also been charged in March with conspiracy, perjury, obstruction of justice and misconduct in office, after an affair with a top aide). The governor of Michigan, Jennifer Granholm, is looking at the situation, and many, like myself, are hoping she will remove the mayor from office. There are so many problems stemming from his control over the city, and we are hoping she takes action to make this situation better.
