Class Book Read the book Bug Hunt in Hawai`i Nei. Discuss the positional words from the book. After making a list of all the positional words, practice hem using the puppet and items in the room. Ask children what they think would happen if a small animal like a mouse came into the room. What would I do? (Hide) Where would be a good place for it to hide? List the responses, using the positional words. Pretend that an animal came in. Give it a name. (Our guinea pig is Hoku, so we used him.) Ask each child to write and illustrate a page using the positional words, for instance, “Is Hoku inside the cube?” Then have each child write the word NO in the place named on their page. Have the child make a flap that covers that word NO and color the flap so that it is somewhat hidden. Glue the flap in place. Have the children read their pages to the class.
