Currently, Hetch Hetchy valley is flooded under 300 feet of water from the Tuolumne River. It is downstream from Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park and 15 miles north of Yosemite Valley. The valley was dammed by the city of San Francisco in 1913 creating the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. The dam is called O’Shaughnessy Dam.
