Gateshead Quays is a 15.5 hectare site which incorporates a number of uses, including business, residential, leisure, retail and office space. Live businesses in the form of The Sage Gateshead, BALTIC, Heritage @ St Marys, HMS Calliope and the occupiers in Oakwellgate will be accommodated within the overall vision. It is highly influenced by the findings of the 1PLAN, which aims to create a sustainable and prosperous urban core for the ‘twin cities’, and therefore this plan looks to complement the wider regeneration opportunities within both Newcastle and Gateshead as a whole, that fit into the context of the 1PLAN. As such the proposals for this site are complementary to plans being suggested for Gateshead town centre to create an integrated approach.
