Hood is located on State Highway 190 (Central Texas Expressway) between Austin, Texas and Dallas, Texas, west of IH35, at the northeastern tip of the famous “Texas Hill Country” , where the landscape transitions from scenic rocky hills to the black soil farmlands to the east. There are two popular Corps of Engineer lakes nearby at Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir and at Lake Belton. Both lakes are popular destinations for fishing, boating and other recreation.
