Where is Entropy?
The concept of entropy is an important aspect of the Second Law. Though contrary to what you often hear it is not related to messy rooms or the inefficiency of human bureaucracies. And those mistaken analogies will not help you understand the physical measurable thermodynamic property of matter called entropy. In fact, the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics was first formulated without the concept of entropy. That came later. And I suspect that somewhere in the universe, there is an advanced world that understands the 2nd Law as well as we do, despite never having invented thermodynamic entropy. I do hope to do a page on entropy sometime, but, for the purposes of this web site, it is not necessary to understand entropy to understand the gist of how energy “behaves”.
