De Pere had the unfortunate draw of having to go against the best pitcher in the state, but obviously he was beatable as Wilmot proved it. To be the best, you have to beat the best. In single elimination baseball, nothing is a sure thing. It really doesn’t matter who the favorite is at the beginning of the year, all that matters is who is standing on top of the pile at the end.
