Catalina Island is about 21 miles off the coast of California. Give or take a few miles. Two popular ports are Long Beach Port and San Pedro Port both in the Los Angeles proximity to get there by ferry. Catalina Island is 21 miles long and as narrow as 1/2 mile. It is considered California and part of the school system with about 400 student residents from elementary through high school years. Weather averages from the lows of 50’s to highs of 80 degrees yearly, approximately. How to get there Catalina Express-(reservations recommended)- this is the service me and my family used. Cost roundtrip- Per adult(12-54) $41, Per senior(55+) $37.50, Per child(2-11) $31.50, Child under 2 $2.00. The ride is about 1 hour from Long Beach and 1 1/2 hour from San Pedro into the Avalon Port, Catalina. Helicopter- takes only 15 minutes! It is $68.86 one way, or 126.98 round trip. Had to pass on this one, wasn’t in my budget. ***note- Catalina Express accepts AAA discount only Mon-Thurs. We Missed out o
