Where is Cape Horn?
It is the southernmost tip of South America, the place where the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans meet. The map shows a common route of the Sarah W. Vorwerk, the boat Mr. Gagnon will be sailing. Cape Horn is a challenge for sailors because of its storms, strong currents, and icebergs. Throughout history many ships wrecked at this spot because of the hazardous conditions. Today’s technology makes the voyage safe, but the experience of crossing the Horn is a goal for many sailors.
