Where is Bratislava in the Slovak Republic?
Situated in the south-west of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava straddles the mighty Danube River. The capital, which is also by some way the largest city in the country, is located right on the borders with Austria and Hungary, with Bratislava and Vienna Europe’s closest neighbouring capitals, at just 37 miles apart. Any stopovers? With flights between the UK and Bratislava taking less than two hours, no stopovers are currently offered on international flights. However, the city’s proximity to a number of other top European highlights, including the cities of Prague, Vienna and Budapest, means that many travellers opt to use it as a base for a tour of the region, with a boat trip down the Danube extremely popular during the summer months. Things to see and do in Bratislava As with Prague, Bratislava offers the visitor a stunning array of Medieval architecture, with many of the most significant buildings having escaped the ravages of the 20th century wars relatively unscathed.
