Where is Belgrade located?
Belgrade (Serbian Beograd/meaning white city) is the capital and largest city of Serbia(population-1,576,124) . It is one of the oldest cities in Europe, first settled in the 3rd century BC by the Celts before becoming the Roman settlement of Singidunum. The name Beograd (Belgrade) was first mentioned in 878 AD.[citation needed] It has been the capital of Serbia since 1404 and was the capital of Yugoslavia from 1918 until 2003, as well as Serbia and Montenegro from 2003 until 2006. Since may of 2006 Belgrade is again capital of Republic of Serbia, since R.Montenegro and R.Serbia are not in the union any more.
