Where Is Ascot Racecourse?
Ascot Racecourse is situated in the village of Ascot which is in the county of Berkshire, England. Berkshire, often called the Royal County of Berkshire due to the presence of Windsor Castle, the royal residence is part of the region of South East England. The Ascot Racecourse is meant for thoroughbred horse racing. It is closely connected to the British Royal Family. It is among the leading racecourses located in the United Kingdom and host 9 out of the UK’s 31 yearly Group 1 races. It was founded by Queen Anne in the year 1711. “Her Majesty’s Plate” was the first race which had a purse of 100 guineas. Seven horses competed in this race, each bearing a weight of 12 stones. The site now belongs to the Crown Estate. Nowadays, the best race is supposed to be the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes which is run over the course in the month of July. Royal Ascot is among the world’s most celebrated race meetings, which is steeped in history and dates back to the year 1711.
