When he finally does arrive, she meets her end with dignity and grace. Interestingly, a French execution is much different than an English one. The English method involves the condemned to lay his head on a block of wood and is decapitated by a heavy axe. The French method allows the condemned to kneel upright and the blow comes from a long sword. Anne’s final moments are touching and beautiful.
