Almonte is small community of 4,800 located at the edge of the City of Ottawa just 25 km west of Kanata along March Road. Almonte is now part of the amalgamated Town of Mississippi Mills that includes the villages of Pakenham, Blakeney, Clayton and Appleton. With the Mississippi River running through the centre of Almonte, the town has long been recognized as a place where one is close to urban amenities but is encompassed by rural lifestyle.
