Where in Greece is the movie Mamma Mia set?
Just watched it – nice musical – especially for those of a certain age that know all the words to Abba songs! Best musicals of all time – GREASE and Westside story However – it has nothing to do with Greece – apart from tha backdrop – nothing Greek (wedding etc) No spoken Greek in the background by ‘locals’ not even an accent (apart from the first part of the film). That was a bit disappointing. Could have been filmed anywhere – even Sophie didn’t fall in love with a local – barman was black … her girlfriends were American (Irish/British) … so bit strange to be set in Greece in my opinion! Also Greek taxis are more likely to be Mercedes or BMW rather than Ladas/Fiats (or whatever they were at the beginning!) Must admit Meryl and her croonies really remind me of myself and my foreign friends in Greece …. crazy!
