Where does the white go when the snow melts?
The white doesn’t go anywhere, it’s just light that is bounced around. Snow is simply a bunch of ice crystals. When light enters an ice crystal, it’s sent off at a different angle, which causes it to bounce off onto another crystal, and so on. As the light keeps bouncing around, it reflects into your eye, and when light of all colors is in equal parts, as it is when it goes into your eye, it appears to be white.
