The FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s rankings for the month of June were released on Wednesday, and while Spain maintains a healthy lead at the top, the Netherlands has overtaken Germany to move to number two. The second spot is the highest place in the rankings for the Dutch since October 2005, while there were two other swaps within the top 10 as Italy (4th, up 1) and Brazil (5th, down 1) traded places, while England (6th, up 1) moved past Argentina (7th, down 1). Despite a lack of matches this past month, a number of teams were able to add to their point totals without taking the field due to a devaluation of results from over a year ago. Burkina Faso (50th, up 7) is at its highest point since the rankings were introduced in 1993, while Denmark (24th, up 5), Bosnia-Herzegovina (33rd, up 5) and Slovakia (42nd, up 5) each enjoyed a nice bump up in the table.
