Where does the name The Ghosts of Onyx come from?
The Ghosts of Onyx is the title of a novel by Eric Nylund, set in the Halo universe. It mainly follows two groups of Spartan super soldiers- a few of the other Spartan-IIs which trained and served with John-117, otherwise known as Master Chief, and the next generation of super soldiers knows as Spartan-IIIs. Yes, Master Chief is not the only Spartan. If you liked the storyline of Halo 3, you should definitely play Halo and Halo 2 to experience their stories as well. If you’ve already done that, you should definitely read the novels by Eric Nylund. His first Halo novel, The Fall of Reach introduces us to John, the boy who would later become Master Chief, as well as several other Spartans. We follow along for his training and for his first meeting with Cortana.
