SRB played as the Orchids on occasion. The label for their vinyl 45 release City Slang is on “Orchide”, but I don’t have a clue where all that got started. Probably from Freddie Brooks (ex SRB road manager). Orchid is Greek for testicle so I guess it’s appropriate. The spot you’re filling was the one occupied by Fred “Sonic” Smith and presumably you’ll be playing your white Epiphone, which of course was once his. Can you avoid comparisons with Sonic’s Rendezvous Band? No avoiding it. I think the idea is to do kind of a tribute performance anyway. Of course I can’t play guitar like Fred. I can only be myself and hope for the best. As someone who actually saw Sonic’s Rendezvous Band, what did you think of the Sweet Nothing release? They did a wonderful job with that. The sound is as good as it gets from a board tape. Everyone who likes real rock and roll music should buy it. The Deep Reduction album is due out any day on Get Hip. Tell me a bit about it and the band you’re playing with in
