In October 2008, Winnipeg City Council approved the Special Event Tourism Fund, of up to $1 million annually managed by Destination Winnipeg Inc., the city’s arms-length marketing agency, in partnership with the City of Winnipeg. The Fund’s revenue comes from a portion of the City of Winnipeg’s Accommodation Tax.
