PharmGKB generally uses the standardized disease vocabulary found in MeSH: Medical Subject Headings. Occasionally, names are added to PharmGKB by submitters. If you are submitting literature or phenotype data that includes a reference to a disease, we prefer that you select a term already in PharmGKB. There are a couple of ways to find the standardized disease name in PharmGKB. (1) Search PharmGKB by typing the disease name into the search box at the top right-hand corner of every web page. A list will be returned that contains all close disease names. You should note that this list may also contain gene or drug names that contain the search term you entered. (2) Go to the Browse Diseases By Name page by clicking the Diseases sub-tab under the Search tab on the website. There you will find an alphabetized list of diseases contained in PharmGKB. If you cannot find a disease in our database, it can be added. Please send an email to submissions@pharmgkb.org.
