Where does the Kigurumi hobbyist usually perform?
Many Kigurumi hobbyist, like their Cosplay counterparts are now attending anime, comic and sci-fi conventions all over the world. Additionally, many Kigurumist like Cosplayers will also meet in small gatherings to talk about and practice their craft and to take pictures together. (Note: While many people think that the practice of Cosplay had it’s origins in Japan, this is not true. The term “Cosplay” was coined in Japan, however American sci-fi/fantasy/comic fans have been dressing up and going to conventions as their favorite characters for a long time. In the seventies, the TV series Wonder Woman payed homage to this fact. In one episode, Wonder Woman attends a sci-fi/fantasy/comic convention. This episode depicted how some of the fans at these conventions would dress up as their favorite sci-fi, fantasy and comic book characters.
