Where does the information to be placed on the next generation CAC come from?

The information written to the CAC originates from the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS). DEERS is the Authoritative Source for ID card issuance and is fed by the Service?s and Agencies? personnel systems. This is the same source used for the current CAC and other DoD identification cards. DEERS interfaces with several other data sources, such as the Defense Civilian Personnel Data System (DCPDS) to act as a central issuance source for CAC data.
