Where Does the G8 Get its Money?
The host country covers the costs of both the Summit and the preparatory meetings. Summit costs have skyrocketed in recent years due to increased security concerns. The 2002 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, was estimated to cost around $300 million, compared to $25 million when Halifax hosted the Summit in 1995.
