Where does the funding for Blackwood Special Schools Outdoor Education Centre come from?
While Blackwood Special Schools Outdoor Education Centre is located on Victorian Department of Education & Early Childhood Development land and runs programs exclusively for students with special needs enrolled in Victoria Government Special Schools – the Centre receives no funding from the Government. There are two permanent staff based at Blackwood Special Schools Outdoor Education Centre and their wages do come from the Department via a Melbourne based Special School. Therefore the Centre operates on:- • Annual Administration Fees paid by the Special Schools • Camp Fees • Event Fees (ie In-Service, Alpine Ride, Super Ride) • Generosity of the Special Schools that utilize the Centre All of this funding goes towards the general running and up keep of the Centre or into the running of the specific event.
