Where Does the Feeling of Insecurity Come From?
How many times have you heard this accusation bandied about “Oh, he (she) is so insecure”? Maybe you yourself have said this about someone in your family, friends or co-workers. Or maybe others have accused you of this mortal sin. I would like to take a few minutes today to explore this concept of insecurity. My very first statement is going to be shocking to some of you. We Are All Insecure. No human being is exempt from feeling insecure as long as they are living in a community of other people. On the other hand, if you are living on some island with no other human beings around, you don’t need to worry about this affliction. As far as accusing some one of being insecure, I am reminded of the Bible saying: “Let the one who has not sinned, throw the first stone”. We have ALL been insecure, about some specific thing or person at some point in our lives. Any one who declares he (she) has no insecurities has not really done an honest self examination.
