All that data remains on the drive, and can often be recovered (in whole or in part) until it’s been written over by another program. Even the file names can be recovered! If you’re concerned about security, do a search for “file shredder”. There are quite a few good freeware programs out there that overwrite deleted files with zeros, making them nearly impossible to recover without specialized equipment. I just tried this program called Drive Discovery, which really works well: http://www.notsosoftware.com/index.asp It’s not free, but you get a full 30 day trial. The software even lets you go so far as to wipe any information left in the virtual memory!
