Where does Seattle Steam get the wood it burns and how much will it use?
• The company has contracted with Cedar Grove Composting and others to provide the waste wood used to fuel the biomass boiler. Cedar Grove is assisting Seattle Steam in aggregating wood supply and encouraging waste collection companies in Seattle to deliver clean urban waste wood sorted from the waste stream. Approximately 10 to 12 truckloads of clean urban waste wood will be delivered to the site each night. Seattle Steam will use approximately 250 tons per day.
