Where does Hummingbird Pictures name come from?
Hummingbird Pictures name comes from Holly Moshers acclaimed first film Hummingbird (2004), a documentary two organizations in Brazil that work with street children and victims of domestic violence to help them break out of the destructive cycle of violence and exploitation. At the end of the film, one of the women running the shelter relays this fable: There was a fire in the forest and all the animals are running around, going nuts. Then a hummingbird goes to the river and picks up a little bit of water in its beak and puts it on the fire. The lion sees the hummingbird and says: Hummingbird–what the hell are you doing? Get out of here–protect yourself like everyone else. And the hummingbird replies: Im doing my part. And what about you? At Hummingbird Pictures we aim to do our part by bringing socially-conscious, socially relevant films to the world. Making a difference, one drop at a time.
