Where does fighting wildland fires and their impact fit into the priorities of the Fire Grant Program?
Brush vehicles, tankers, wildland firefighting equipment, protective clothing, and training are eligible provided the applicant can adequately demonstrate a need. • What is a basic level of fire protection and who makes that determination? Each community must define an acceptable level of fire service based upon the level of risk within the community and the communitys ability to fund a fire department. Service levels are best defined by the several national standards-making bodies such as the NFPA, OSHA, DOT, and ANSI.
