Where Does CRSCM Stand on Federal Legislation?
CRSCM believes that federal legislation is needed to educate expectant women about cord blood banking and to allow families to use tax-free dollars to make cord blood banking more affordable. The coalition has currently endorsed two federal bills including the Family Cord Blood Banking Act (H.R. 1718), which will allow families to use tax advantaged health dollars for qualified cord blood banking services, and the “Cord Blood Education and Awareness Act of 2009” (H.R. 2107), which will emplace national education on cord blood banking options and standardize informed consent on cord blood stem cells for pregnant women. The coalition will not take positions on local ordinances or state legislation.
