Where does BPD come from?
There is no consensus in the mental health community about the origins of Borderline Personality Disorder. One group believes that BPD is organic – that it is the result of a chemical imbalance; another group believes that BPD is environmental – that a person’s environment and training have caused the BPD traits to emerge and grow. At BPDR, we tend to believe a bit of both: that there is an underlying biological predisposition toward instability and that environmental influences exploited that imbalance which results in BPD. Regardless, at BPDR, we don’t seek to reach a definite conclusion. Instead, we focus on healthy, happy living.
