Where do you find the inspiration for the lyrics and the essages within the songs?
Again, sometimes I feel something and, well, I’m an artist so that’s how I express myself. It comes out in a lyric. Other times, I pick up on a line a collaborator of mine gives me and I run with a couple of verses. For instance, a good friend of mine, Sherry Stearn, cowrote a lot of the lyrics on my album. Being friends, she and I would share a lot of our experiences with each other–both thrills and frustrations of life and love here in the Big Apple! We had a lot in common and shared a lot with each other. Just talking about it like girlfriends do, next thing you know we’ve got a few key concepts down for a song! Please explain the various sequences you go through when writing your music. I recorded my album with two producers, Larry Mitchell (Tracy Chapman, Billy Squire) and Dan Wise. They each have their own studios. They were really the key people in my getting the album together. I learned a lot from them and I’m extremely lucky to have been able to work with them. Do you have a
