Where do u guys stand on the whole Napster Debate?
Well, in Utah Saints’ opinion, the Napster debate is really several different debates rolled up in one. The concept of music being shared over the internet is pretty much unstoppable, and for the moment, at least, a good way to get to music that you otherwise might never hear. Utah Saints are slightly suspicious of Napster’s motivation here, especially when one of the money people behind Napster allegedley valued the company as being worth $2 billion on paper. That alone possibly suggests that Napster are not just in it for the love of music. It’s perhaps a little unfair that artists are being pushed into this debate, especially when the media push Mista Chuck D into one corner and Lars Ulrich from Metallica into the other, because they are essentially arguing different points on the same issue.
