Where do the samples come from that lead to this dose at Sellafield?
Samples used in the assessment of the aquatic pathway dose at Sellafield are all collected from within a radius of about 15km of the site. While this might seem a relatively large region, fish can move significant distances and studies of how liquid waste from Sellafield’s pipeline spreads within the Irish Sea show that this is an appropriate area from which to sample.
