Where do the 4th annual Lizzie Bell Blood drive was going to held ?
Teenager Lizzie Bell struggles everyday with Diamond Blackfan Anemia, and she needs our help to survive. “My name is Lizzie Bell. I’m 14 and I have Diamond Blackfan Anemia,” says Lizzie. She has a team of people bagging for blood. They’re dropping information and iron-rich foods in plastic bags, so you might be enticed to donate a pint of blood. Lizzie’s body doesn’t make red blood cells, so she needs two to three pints of blood every two to three weeks to stay alive, and she loves what life has to offer. “I like to swim, [watch] TV, [and] definitely hang out with friends and cousins. I like the mall [and] I love going to the movies,” she tells us. This past year, though, Lizzie’s had it rough. Her mother Kathy tells us, “Sometimes you are chronically aware of the fact that your child lives on other people’s blood. Sometimes you are acutely aware, and this year we were acutely aware.” The Bell family doesn’t expect you to remember Diamond Blackfan Anemia. They just want you to look at
