Where do storm grates go? Where do manholes go?
Storm grates are the entrances to the catch basins (carry storm water). They are designed to allow a lot of water to enter, while filtering out some of the large debris. Water that enters storm grates discharges into streams, the Duluth-Superior Harbor or directly into Lake Superior. Manholes allow access to any of the utility systems that are routed below ground, including sanitary, storm water, phone, and power systems.
