Where do spores for Fungus/Mold reproduction come from?
I’m pretty sure that the mold found on bread is from the Phylum Zygomycota. Their spores are dispersed by wind and are probably in the air around you now. Any bread with moisture and exposed to the air will begin to grow mold if spores land on it. There are numerous bread molds too that could land on the bread such as the common black bread mold and even types that are used for penecillin. Ergot is in the Phylum Asciomycota. I don’t think it grows on bread, rather it grows on the flowers of the Rye plant and possibly other types of grasses. From what I’ve read it seems to be more insect dispersed from flower to flower rather than wind. The Ergot releases a type of Honey Dew liquid which contains spores that sticks to the insects as they land. LSD is one of many alkaloids that are found in the Ergot. You have to extract it from the fungus chemically I believe. I’m not sure how to synthetically make LSD but I doubt you can trip off of eating a moldy piece of bread. Not saying that you we
