Where do soundboard shows come from?
• Some taper-friendly bands allow audience members to make soundboard recordings. • Radio stations often record shows for later broadcast. These recordings are sometimes leaked. (Note: if you record a broadcast from the radio, this is not a soundboard recording) • Occasionally a sound guy at a venue will secretly tape a show. • Bands often tape their shows. Some of these recordings are leaked with or without their permission.
