Where do robin readbreast birds go in summer?
During the summer in Britain and Ireland the small garden birds seem to disappear. This is often due to the moult. The moulting process can take around two weeks causing birds to appear ragged and often not as quick when taking off due to the loss of a few flight and tail feathers. Because of this many birds tend to conceal themselves from predators in hedges and such rather than coming into the open where they would be more obvious targets. Also many natural food sources become present at this time such as berries and fruit causing them to feed on those rather than at bird tables or in gardens. The robins are still around, they’re just in hiding or feeding elsewhere…
