Where do productivity gaps exist in the Canadian workplace?
Productivity losses are often a result of businesses using knowledge management incorrectly. Typically, an employee is responsible for a particular business task and when that employee leaves, they take that knowledge with them without properly passing it on. Contributing to this problem is that fact that so few companies archive knowledge properly. In the past, few companies had data and documents that needed to be shared or archived did not have systems set up to facilitate this. This is beginning to improve, but it still remains a primary cause of lost productivity for many businesses as they struggle to properly use these systems.
